2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Gets Hybrid Makeover, Offering Fuel-Efficient Fun for Drivers
September 17 2024,
The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback is set to arrive at Canadian dealerships this month, offering customers a range of new features and powertrain options at competitive price points. The latest iteration of the popular compact car introduces hybrid-electric technology to the hatchback model for the first time in Canada, aligning with Honda's broader electrification strategy.
Starting at $31,400 for the base Sport trim, the 2025 Civic Hatchback presents an attractive entry point for buyers seeking a well-equipped vehicle. The lineup expands with the introduction of two hybrid variants: the Sport Hybrid, priced at $35,200, and the top-tier Sport Touring Hybrid at $38,700.
The Sport trim comes standard with a refined 2.0-litre engine, while both hybrid models feature Honda's award-winning two-motor hybrid system. This new powertrain delivers impressive performance, boasting 232 lb.-ft of torque—the highest of any non-Type R Civic—while achieving a remarkable city fuel economy rating of 4.8 L/100km.
Honda has positioned the hybrid models to account for approximately 60% of Civic sales, marking a significant shift towards electrification in the compact car segment. The Sport Hybrid trim offers additional value with standard features including a moonroof, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate controls.
For tech-savvy consumers, the Sport Touring Hybrid introduces Google built-in, a first for the Civic line. This feature integrates apps like Google Assistant and Google Maps for an enhanced connected driving experience. The top-end trim also includes a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and a larger 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Safety remains a priority across all trim levels, with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies standard on every 2025 Civic. Enhancements for this model year include improved system visibility for motorcycles and bicycles in the Collision Mitigation Braking System.
The 2025 Civic Hatchback also receives styling updates, featuring a more aggressive front fascia and grille inspired by the Civic Type R. Two new exterior colours, Solar Silver Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl, have been added to the palette, while interior options now include a grey colour scheme on select trims.
