2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Earns Prestigious North American Car of the Year Finalist Position

The Honda Civic Hybrid continues its legacy of excellence, having been selected as a finalist for the 2025 North American Car of the Year award. This nomination recognizes the complete redesign of the Civic Hybrid lineup, which introduces sedan and hatchback variants manufactured at Honda's Canadian facilities.

The Path to Excellence

The Civic's selection as a finalist builds upon its remarkable track record in the North American Car of the Year competition. The current generation Civic captured the award in 2022, following victories in 2016 and 2006. This recognition comes from a jury of 50 automotive journalists from Canada and the United States who evaluate vehicles based on innovation, design, safety features, performance, technology, driver satisfaction, and value.

Performance Meets Efficiency

The 2025 Civic Hybrid stands out with its fourth-generation two-motor hybrid system, delivering 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. These figures make it the most powerful non-Type R Civic ever produced, while maintaining exceptional fuel efficiency with a 4.8L/100km city rating for Sport and Sport Touring models. The engineering team optimized the ride and handling dynamics through specialized spring and damper tuning, complemented by hybrid-specific tire development.

Canadian Pride

The Civic Hybrid Sedan's Canadian production underscores Honda's commitment to domestic manufacturing excellence. This local connection resonates with Canadian buyers, with hybrid variants expected to represent approximately 60% of Civic sales in Canada. The expansion of the hybrid lineup aligns with Honda's broader electrification strategy, joining the Canadian-built CR-V Hybrid in showrooms.

Refined Experience

Available in both Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid configurations, the 2025 Civic Hybrid delivers enhanced cabin quietness through a comprehensive noise reduction package. All hybrid models feature Active Noise Control, while Sport Touring variants add wheel resonators for additional refinement. The availability of both sedan and hatchback body styles offers buyers flexibility without compromising the Civic's renowned practicality.

The North American Car of the Year award winners will be announced in the coming months, potentially adding another accolade to the Civic's impressive 50-year history in North America. This latest recognition reinforces the Civic Hybrid's position as a leader in the compact car segment, combining efficiency, performance, and Canadian manufacturing excellence in one excellent package.
