Introducing the New 2025 Honda Civic: A Powerful and Connected Drive

For over 50 years, the Honda Civic has been a staple on Canadian roads and one of the country's most popular and top-selling passenger cars. As Honda continues its push towards an electrified future, the iconic Civic is getting a major upgrade for 2025 with the introduction of powerful new hybrid trims, sportier styling, and improved technology.

Under the Hood: Hybrid Power and Efficiency

The headliner for 2025 is the arrival of the Civic Hybrid, offered in both sedan and hatchback body styles. Powered by Honda's award-winning two-motor hybrid system, these trims promise exhilarating performance with an anticipated 232 lb-ft of torque and 200 horsepower - making them the most powerful non-Type R Civics ever produced.

But raw power isn't the only story. The Civic Hybrid is expected to achieve exceptional EPA combined fuel economy ratings of nearly 4.8L/100km for the Sport Hybrid and 4.9L/100km for the Sport Touring Hybrid. Linear Shift Control enhances the driving experience by mimicking the familiar vehicle speed-linked rev feel of a conventional transmission.

Fresh Looks and Premium Cabin

Complementing the hybrid's potent powertrain are eye-catching exterior updates across the Civic lineup. A more aggressive front fascia and grille give the 2025 models a sportier presence, while revised taillights sharpen the rear styling of the sedan. Three new paint colours - Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Grey Pearl, and Blue Lagoon Pearl (sedan only) - further distinguish the refreshed design.

The Civic's well-appointed cabin sees some luxurious touches as well. Sport Hybrid models gain bold contrasting seat stripes, a moonroof, heated front seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control as standard fare. Range-topping Sport Touring Hybrid versions raise the bar further with leather seating, a premium 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless device charging, and an enlarged 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Innovative Connectivity with Google Built-In

One of the most significant tech upgrades is the introduction of Google built-in on the Sport Touring Hybrid, the first application in a Civic model. Drivers can use Google Assistant for hands-free calls, texts, reminders and even climate control adjustments through voice commands. Google Maps integration offers voice-controlled navigation with routes displayed on the instrument cluster.

The Google Play ecosystem also opens up a world of audio entertainment by enabling downloading of third-party music, podcast and audiobook apps right to the vehicle.

Prioritizing Safety

As a leader in compact car safety, the 11th-generation Civic offers the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistive technologies standard across the board. This includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and more.

The Civic's signature Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure enhances occupant protection through specialized front airbag designs that help minimize brain trauma in angled frontal collisions. Further bolstering safety are front seatbelt pre-tensioners and side curtain airbags.

Canadian Production and Market Impact

Slated to begin production in June at Honda's plant in Alliston, Ontario, the Civic Hybrid represents an important step in Honda's path to vehicle electrification and a key offering as the brand targets having hybrids account for 60% of all Civic sales in Canada. As the lead plant for Civic Hybrid production in North America, HCM's output will be critical to meeting expected demand.

The Honda Civic has been built in Canada since 1988, with the 6 millionth Canadian-made Civic rolling off the line just last November. This latest hybridized evolution continues the model's legacy as an automotive icon north of the border. With its potent yet efficient new hybrid heart, the 2025 Honda Civic is poised to be a real power player.
